Each class will be based around a book in one or more of the following book series: Ordinary People Change the World series by Brad Meltzer, Little People Big Dreams by Isabel Snachez-Vegara, She Persisted, and others as available. I hold a BA in History with minors in Women's Studies and Humanities as well as an MA in History. My area of specialty is women's history (My studies also include the history of Women of Color and Indigenous Women), and American (United States) history from the 1560s to 1960s. I recently completed continuing education courses covering the American Civil War. Topics of study included the lives of enslaved people and the many different ways the Civil War affected their lives, people of color and women and their role in the Civil War, and the enforcement of freedom of the enslaved.
