Students will learn that eating healthy foods can be fun and colorful. Detailed, supportive photographs and high-frequency words support beginning readers. This is a good class for beginning readers at the 1st grade reading level. Students will begin with a show and tell section to tell me about their favorite fruit or vegetable. We will then use a PowerPoint Slides to learn new vocabulary to read the story. After this students will all practice and use words with the variant vowel OW. Each student will use the prepositions for and with. Students are able to discuss and read aloud in class and fill out a chart to show our main idea and details from the story. At the end of class we will each share something new that we learned and I will give them a fruit salad recipe to try at home.
