Students will learn the power of their voice, empowering them to be expressive in a variety of ways while improving their writing fluency and developing additional writing skills. Students will also learn a variety of creative writing exercises and projects that they use both now and in the future.
I have been working in education for over 15 years, primarily as a high school English teacher and speech and debate coach. I specialize in writing instruction, literary analysis, and project-based learning. I am a storyteller, writer, and poet who loves teaching and empowering students to be the best version of themselves that they can.
Homework Offered
Projects All projects will include both a writing component and a physical artistic component that will be completed independently. Most projects are fairly simple and do not require a lot of time nor do they require purchasing many supplies. Basic art and craft supplies such as glue, markers, paper, scissors, etc, as well as some additional items that can usually be found around the house, will be needed. Given that students have a lot of creative freedom within these projects, an exact list of supplies cannot be provided since each student is free to approach each project as they wish in accordance with some basic guidelines. Estimated time 1-3 hours per week.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be provided with verbal feedback, encouragement, and suggestions for improvement in class. From time to additional feedback may be provided via private message to students and/or parents. Parents may also request individual feedback at any time.Grades Offered
