Is your child overwhelmed by multiplication? Would they prefer to add forever? Does a multiplication table make them run screaming from the room? Then this course is for them! Students will meet twice a week for four week (a total of 8 sessions) to learn multiplication facts the streamlined way. By making use of the commutative property and the multiplication table, students will learn a finite set of facts. During each class students will be taught a strategy for that week's facts, engage in guided practice, play a game with their peers, and complete a "pop quiz." All of this will be done with the guidance of a certified elementary school teacher. Students should already have an understanding of repeated addition and exposure to multiplication prior to the course. Class 1: Pretest, Commutative Property, 0 and 1's facts (Please note, students may need time after this first class to complete the pre-test). Class 2: 2's facts Class 3: 5's and 10's facts Class 4: 9's facts Class 5: 3's facts Class 6: 4's facts Class 7: 6's facts Class 8: 7's and 8's facts and Posttest (Please note, students may need time after this last class to complete the post-test). Additional practice after class will be provided each day.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Welcome!
I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in children through sharing engaging, high interest texts. The classes I teach are literacy based, and I also offer reading assessments to help parents have a better understanding of their child's reading level and strategies to support them.
I have ten years teaching experience at the elementary level and my Masters in Reading Education from UVA and am certified to teach readers from K-12. I ran the CETA (Changing Education through the Arts) program by the Kennedy Center, at my school and find great value in arts integration.
I believe children should feel that they are valued members of a class in order to do their best learning. Classes should be engaging, interactive and social, especially in a virtual format.
I have two little guys at home and we love to bake, go on nature walks, and we just learned about Geocaching! Oh, and I'm a Penn Stater at heart- We Are!
