Class experience
In this one-time class, kids take a break from outside noise and the hustle of the world to focus on them. By using the five senses they can learn to control their anxious thoughts and bring more clarity and focus to their lives. In class, I will begin by asking students to find a comfortable spot or position to relax and focus. This incorporates one of the five senses. This also means students must be in a quiet room away from distractions and outside noise. Headphones are preferred but...
Students will learn how to refocus their thinking to create a calm environment for themselves.
I am a teacher and a mother of a child with mild autism. I was her homeschool teacher for over 10 years and I have expertise in reading education as well as mindfulness training for anxiety. I had to learn anti-anxiety techniques to help her navigate in a noisy, and fast-paced world. Mindfulness skills came in handy. I also have used this technique with my Dramatic Arts students here in the state where I live.
