The 4 session class will teach how to use a graphic organizer to develop ideas and then be able write paragraphs, and then turn their paragraphs into an essay or other written format using topics that are interesting to them. #academic

Young writers often just don't know where to start. They sometimes lack the self-confidence to write, and this often leads to refusal to do assignments or doing very minimal work. I will teach students to use graphic organizers to organize their thoughts. Once they are comfortable with that, we will move to understanding how that information can be turned into paragraphs. Students will be able to complete various graphic organizers, use that information in outlines, and then write a 5-6 paragraph paper.

Homework Offered
Students are welcome to work on essays outside of class, but not required.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Teacher will provide feedback on writing. This is done during class as they are writing or done with editing comments on the paper.Grades Offered
The class uses google docs as we construct the essays, this is very helpful for those with learning differences. Every student works at their own pace. I can work with the family on how to help specific needs.
Students need to be able to type on a google doc. The essays are 6 paragraphs long, so they need to have ideas for 4 main ideas and details.
This class requires using google docs, and each student needs to have their own device.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
