The 4 session class will teach students how to use a graphic organizer to develop ideas and then be able to write paragraphs. Finally they will turn that into an essay using topics that are interesting to them.

US Grade 3 - 6
Young writers often just don't know where to start. They lack the self-confidence to write, and this often leads to refusal to do assignments or doing very minimal. I will teach students to use graphic organizers to organize their thoughts. Once they are comfortable with that, we will more to understanding how that information can be turned into paragraphs. Students will add transitional sentences, an introduction and conclusion, resulting in a 5-6 paragraph paper. I will use a lecture...
Students will be able to complete a graphic organizers, use that information in paragraphs, and then write a 5-6 paragraph paper.
I have been a teacher and counselor for 33 years. I have taught this lesson successfully year after year. I am certified in El. Ed, Special Ed, and Middle School English.
Homework Offered
Only if not done in class: Week 1: Complete a graphic organizer. Week 2: Complete paragraphs Week 3: Complete transition sentences, introduction and conclusion. Week 4: Complete any editing that needs to be done.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Feedback will be given to the students in self-paced classes as they progress through the class.Grades Offered
Students who struggle with ADHD, Dyslexia, or other learning needs do much better with the structure this provides, and they are more motivated by being able to write about a topic they like.
Need to be able to type and use a google doc
A google doc to work on will be supplied by the teacher for those in a self-paced class. The students in subscription classes will set up their own document or hand write.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
