Students will need to have a physical or digital copy of the following books:
"A Long Walk To Water" by Linda Sue Park
"When Stars Are Scattered" by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class deals with Salva's journey and Omar and Hassan's life over many years. Parts of the book "A Long Walk To Water" and some discussions we will have cover the Sudanese Civil War. A section in the book, Salva's uncle is killed, but it's not graphic. There is also a part where one of Salva's friends goes missing and it is thought that he was taken by a lion in the middle of the night. The details are not told in the book - just hinted at.
