The Eurostar underwater train tunnel from Britain to France through the English Channel is one of the world's most incredible engineering feats! But when was the “Chunnel” built and how? Did everyone like the idea? What is it like to travel 100mph in a bullet train racing through an underwater tunnel? What interesting people have travelled through the Chunnel? The answers might surprise you! Let’s dive into learning about the Eurostar underwater train tunnel! The following topics will be covered: -The Historical Time Frame of the Underwater Tunnel and When it was First Introduced -Why it was Built and it’s Geographical Location -How it was Built and the Difficulties/Successes of its Construction -Interesting Events and People -What it’s Like to Ride Through the Chunnel Today! But wait, there’s more!! A MYSTERY CHALLENGE.... Not only will students gain knowledge about the history of the Eurostar Underwater Train Tunnel but a mystery challenge related to an interesting event will be presented at the beginning of class. Using slides, music, and drama throughout this fun and interactive lesson, I will give various clues for our young sleuths to try their hands at solving the mystery. Learners will each be given the opportunity to discuss their theories with others in the class and will also be encouraged to ask me questions during the lesson to “follow their hunches”. All will be revealed at the end of the class, plus learners will have gained knowledge about this 20th century marvel. Let’s put a little mystery in your history!
