Class Experience

This class teaches basic manners/etiquette through a variety of mediums in a personal, fun and interactive way which helps students engage, learn and retain the information presented. The class begins with a get to know you time and a brief outline of what will be covered. We then move to story time by reading a book centered around Louisiana culture that is used as a springboard to discuss manners and etiquette. That discussion begins by using a whiteboard to illustrate the core of manners. Next a top notch PowerPoint presentation is displayed that highlights six basic manners which are "Please", "Thank You", "You're Welcome", "Welcome", "Excuse Me" and "Please Forgive Me/ I Forgive You". This presentation is followed by interactive class discussion and role-playing to practice and solidify the practical use of the manners discussed. A review and question/answer time wraps things up. Louisiana culture is woven throughout the class and a little "Lagniappe" (something extra) is thrown in at the end for fun! Learners can expect to receive personal instruction on several aspects of basic manners/etiquette through a variety of mediums and learning styles while engaging as a class and having fun!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I was raised and live in the great state of Louisiana and bring Louisiana flare to all I do! Cumulatively, I have 20 years of experience in the educational field by homeschooling my children for 12 years, teaching in a variety of homeschool co-ops, working as a math and ELA tutor/interventionist in the public and private school system (Pre-K - 4th grade), teaching special needs Preschool children and teaching a variety of on-line classes featuring Pre-K subjects and Tween Health and wellness.
I believe education is most effective when the teacher connects personally with students while engaging them in the subject matter with creative presentations which encourage retainability.
Along with teaching children, health and wellness is also my passion. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and also completed a Dietetics Internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. I have worked as a Registered Dietitian and Health Care Specialist in several different health care facilities. I was the Director of Wellness at a hospital in TN, the Resident Dietitian at a Children's Treatment Facility and a Health Coach at a Chiropractic facility.

I can teach a variety of classes including math, ELA, health, nutrition, etiquette/manners, crafts, storytelling, book clubs, Louisiana culture and more.

As for fun facts about me, the farthest place I've traveled to is Russia, my favorite animal growing up was a frog and I love dark chocolate!
