US Grade 1 - 4
Each week students will engage in various activities based on a grammar rule. There will be modeling, read alouds, informational videos, and hands on activities. This course allows students to learn grammar in a fun and interesting way and provides hands on practice of each rule. Here are some examples of topics and dates: Sept. 9: Review - Declarative and Interrogative Sentences Sept. 16: Imperative and Exclamatory Sentences Sept. 23: Complete Subjects and Predicates Sept. 30: Compound Sentences Oct. 7: Clauses and Compound Sentences Oct. 14: Common and Proper Nouns Oct. 21: Regular Plural Nouns Oct. 28: Irregular Plural Nouns Nov. 4: Singular Possessive Nouns Nov. 11: Action and Linking Verbs Nov. 18: Main and Helping Verbs Dec. 2: Subject Verb Agreement Dec. 9: Present, Past and Future Tense Dec. 16: Irregular Verbs Dec. 23: Singular and Plural Pronouns Each week I will introduce a new grammar topic or rule. I will engage the students with a read aloud, informational video, or visual representation. Students will then practice the rule with an activity. Since we meet once a week the student will have the opportunity to finish the activity and/or engage in another practice activity after class. I am designing this class in a way to make learning grammar enjoyable and applicable.

Supply List
Students need paper, pencil, glue/tape, and coloring materials. There may be other various documents needed to be printed for class that will be posted to the classroom page prior to class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Maria Ramirez. I have a masters degree in elementary education from Simmons University. I hold a Massachusetts teaching license for grades 1-6 and a Moderate Disabilities License for PreK - 8. I have been teaching children for over 16 years in charter, public, private, online schools, homeschool, and internationally during the school year and summer. I am passionate in finding fun and engaging ways to teach. I believe in nurturing each student's curiosity and excitement to learn through hands on exploration and discovery. I am a mother to two children ages 7 and 9. We love to spend time vegetable and fruit gardening, taking care of our chickens, painting, going on nature walks, and reading books together.
