Class Experience

Learners will be able to identify rocks and minerals using tools that geologists use in the field. They will understand the processes and formation of all three rock types and they will be able to identify uses for some minerals.
I am a geologist who has real world work experience. Additionally, I have participated in research identifying the mineralogy and geochemistry of specific rock formations in the United States.
There will be a few outside activities to be completed individually outside of class that should take no more than an hour to complete.
Please see the class description for supplies.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents will need to assist with the lab with Starburst candies to ensure microwave safety.
