US Grade Preschool
In this one-time class, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday! We will begin by talking about a few Dr. Seuss facts and looking at some of the books he wrote. We will then talk about rhyming words, as many are found in Dr. Seuss' books. Next, we will play a game called 'What is in Cat's Hat?'. I will pull common household items out of a hat and then we will identify and briefly discuss each item, which is great for language development. After these activities, we will make our own wearable Cat in the Hat hat craft!
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic facts about Dr. Seuss. Students will also practice identifying and making rhyming words. We will use language skills as we name the different items that come out of Cat's hat! With our hat craft, students will utilize skills like following directions and using materials correctly.

Parental Guidance
During our craft, we will be making a wearable Cat's Hat. Students will be cutting with scissors, which will require parental guidance. Part of the craft involves measuring and attaching the headband part of the hat, which may be difficult for some students; parental assistance suggested.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am excited to be teaching here on Outschool! I am looking forward to teaching early childhood development classes - preschool math, literacy, social skills and more! I have worked with children/students of all ages. My primary focus is with young children as I have a bachelors degree in elementary education (prek - 4th) which I obtained through Grand Canyon University. I have spent the last 10 years working in an early childhood development center, primarily working with children ages 2-4. During these last 10 years I have developed and implemented curriculum across many content areas. Aside from teaching, I am a color guard instructor at both the middle and high school levels.
I think learning is all about having fun, especially with the younger children! My experience of running an early childhood classroom will aide me in providing fun and engaging lessons here on Outschool as well!
When I am not coaching or teaching, I am busy being a wife and a mom! My husband and I have a seven year old son who is currently in second grade and an infant daughter. My older son is very involved in sports, which means I am too! I also enjoy reading, journaling, and watching tv.
I look forward to meeting and working with many young children on this journey!
