You have just been hired as the newest zookeeper at the Wilson Zoo! But you don't know what supplies you need, where to go, or what to do...time to work together, solve the mysteries and go take care of the animals! In this class, students will first learn a little bit about what it's like to be a zookeeper. Keepers don't just feed animals; they educate the public, design habitats, and monitor animal health! Students will learn about zookeeping as a career. In the process, they will practice teamwork and using critical and computational thinking skills.
I am a high school science teacher, but have also taught middle school. Before teaching, I worked with animals in a variety of places, including a major aquarium, a primate sanctuary, and several science/nature museums.
A piece of paper and pen/pencil will be helpful for jotting down codes/numbers, etc.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
