Class Experience

The purpose of this course is to create mindfulness art. Students do not need to have any artistic background. Students will be creating art that will help them express gratitude, create positive thoughts, and plan for the near future.

The lessons will be taught through the class discussion form, videos, and external links to other helpful resources. Each week students will be able to share their work and thoughts with others.

We will meet on three days a week for 50 Minute sessions. During this time, students will be provided with instruction, guidance, and inspiration while they learn about and make the activity assigned for the day. Students will use the other days of the week to finish up their projects, watch external videos, and engage in external discussion.

This class is perfect for students who want to step away from negative thoughts and spend time throughout the next week engaging in crafts that can promote positivity.

Schedule:
Day 1: Setting Goals
	-	Students will make a vision board
	-	Students will draw and color mandala inspired art or yin-yang art
Day 2: Bringing Awareness
	-	Students will make a gratitude “tree”
	-	Students will make a control wheel and be introduced to other paper based mindfulness activities.
Day 3: Planning Ahead
        - Students will begin to create our own bullet journal that includes pages such as To-Do Lists, Goals, and Habit Trackers.
        - Students will be encouraged to continue these journals after the class is over.
	- Students will share ideas and be given external videos to watch that include animals.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified NYS math teacher for grades 7-12. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Education from Adelphi University.

I have been working with both children and adolescents for over 9 years through camps, preschools, and tutoring. I have enjoyed all of these experiences, and believe that they have helped me grow as an educator. As an educator, the most important thing to me is to make sure that each student knows that I care about them and believe in them.

Art has always been important to me. Almost everyone I know will describe me as a creative person. However, I believe that anyone can be creative. Expressing creativity is important because it allows one to express oneself. I want to show others that they can also be creative through this fun class!

This class is more than just an art tutorial. It is a platform where students can collaborate and share ideas off one another and encourage each other through the wonderful process of creativity.
