In this 6 week course, students will explore elements and the periodic table. The atoms, elements, metals, nonmetals, metalloids, and radioactive elements are the focus of this chapter.

Class Experience

Reading and inquiry skills will drive each lesson.  Below you will find the skills listed by each lesson.

1. Introduction to atoms

Students will receive homework weekly.  There are several lab options as well.  Labs are to be completed independently.  
Students must ensure that the textbook is acquired prior to the start of class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Some labs may require parental supervision.
Nearpod, Google Slides, and Kahoot are used in this class.
Required textbook:
Introduction to Chemistry by Pearson (This book is available on amazon and should not cost more than $10)
The textbook is part of the interactive science series.
