Welcome to "A Boy Called Christmas" book study & reading club. Over three weeks, we will study literary elements and discuss our reading of "A Boy Called Christmas" by Matt Haig over three weeks. Learners will read the books prior to class and then engage in a discussion with other students about common book study topics. Connections will be encouraged in the classroom and each learner will have a chance to share their thoughts throughout the class. We will use inference to predict upcoming events in the novel, discuss setting and characters, personal opinions of the narrative, and summarize what we have read in a paragraph at the end of our class. Week of December 2nd: Chapters 1-10 Week of December 9th: Chapters 11-23 Week of December 16th: Chapters 24-end of the book
Learning Goals
Students will be able to discuss the literary elements of a novel including character traits, setting, and foreshadowing.
Students will be able to summarize what they have read in paragraph format, including a topic sentence.

Supply List
Students will need access to "A Boy Called Christmas" by Matt Haig either in written or audio format.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
