A Book Club for Dog Lovers

In this ongoing class, students will read designated books (related to dogs), then meet to discuss the plot and other literary elements such as characters, setting, internal and external conflict, motivation, imagery, etc.

Class Experience

Students will learn to identify different literary elements and how they affect the plot. Students will learn how to read texts intentionally, how to discuss texts, along with promoting a love for reading, building community around reading, and helping students develop deeper understanding of texts.
Students will read the designated book chapters on their own time, and use the reading guide to prepare themselves for the book club discussion.
Students will need the book: Wish by Barbara O'Connor - ISBN 978-1250144058
Informal assessment of student's reading compression assessed during class.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
