45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, I will offer an introduction to the theater. We'll discuss the who, what, and how of a production. WHO are you? We'll discuss all the people involved in creating a play from the actors on stage to the person who runs the ticket booth. We'll discuss their roles and what is required to fulfill that role. WHAT does that mean? Theater has a whole lingo that sounds almost foreign to those new to theater, and jumping right in can be overwhelming. We'll talk about some of these terms, what they mean, and who might use them the most. HOW do I use that? Using examples of different script formats, we'll discuss what format each role would use and the types of things you would write in your script. We will spend some time discussing script notation and how to make notes for each type of roll.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will feel comfortable with the language used in a theater.
They will feel confident in knowing the different roles and hopefully feel drawn towards one they are interested in exploring in the future.
