'Dungeons and Dragons' (D&D) has been popular for decades; however, with the pandemic and the rise of internet live-streams, it has taken on a new level of popularity. Many of our kids have an urge to try the game, but have nowhere to learn it...that's what this class is for. I have created an original story and pre-generated characters for your students to use as they explore the fantasy world as elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, half-orcs, and humans. They will use their social skills to...
Students will get a chance for social interaction. Students will use basic math skills. Students will engage with imaginative settings and become their characters through interaction and improvisational acting. Students will learn and practice the game of Dungeons and Dragons (5th Edition). There may be some map-making and engineering skills used as well.
I have been playing D&D since the 1980's. I have written modules for Living Greyhawk and the RPGA Forgotten Realms settings. I have a MN teaching license and have taught all ages of players how to play various editions of this game and other RPG's.
None required, but students may want to explore more on their own.

GOOD vs EVIL - Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game. While my games will always have the players being on the side of good, each student makes their own decisions on what their character does during the game. Outside of Outschool, players and DM's (Dungeon Masters) may choose scenarios where their characters are not 'good' in nature. This class teaches basic game mechanics. What your student does with this knowledge in the future is up to them. RELIGION - Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game. In this game, there are large pantheons of made-up deities. This is not intended to mimic any real-world religion. Some parents may be uncomfortable with characters that 'worship' a make-believe god. If this is the case, please let your student know not to play a cleric or paladin. Also, some characters get powers granted to them by an outsider (good, neutral, or evil). In my game, all outsiders will be good. If you would rather avoid this, please do not play a warlock.
