Beginner Level
The core theme of A Bad Case of Stripes is learning to be yourself and being comfortable in your own skin… literally. Philosophically speaking, the book deals with the issue of identity, spun in several different ways. We will read this book and identify the literary elements and discuss issues around identity and what we can do to help with our negative self talk. Our class will structured as interactive engaging learners in conversation to check for understanding. We will preview the book and make predictions, read aloud, and move in to questioning techniques to determine characters, setting, beginning, middle and end, conflict and resolution. We will engage during our lesson by discussion as talking and interacting each other.
