Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this class we will work with the short "a" sound. Students will practice making the sound and differentiating between this sound and short "e, i, o, and u". We will practice blending one consonant and the short "a"; we will also work at forming words by adding a consonant to the end of the blends. At the end of class students will listen to words and identify when the word has a short "a" sound.
During our class students will have opportunities to answer as a group and individually. We will use games and actions to learn the material. I want my students to have fun while they are learning.
Students should be familiar with the letters of the alphabet; knowing consonant sounds would also be helpful.
Learning Goals
Students will learn saying and identify the short "a" sound; they will also have opportunity to blend with short "a" and single consonants.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
