Class Experience

US Grade 9
This 9th Grade Literature Class is a Survey Course. The intention is to finish the discussion of a book every 3 - 4 weeks. The books rotate from the following list:

The Color Purple by Alice Walker *
The Illiad by Homer
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes *
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Gulliver's Travels by Johnathan Swift
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison *
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway *
All Things Wise and Wonderful by James Herriot *
David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Several of these books deal with graphic violence or sexual situations (for example "The Color Purple") or contain excessive profanity or drinking (All Things Wise) Parental permission would be required from all parents before those books could be read by a class.
