Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
In this 3-week, twice a week class, students will learn and practice the stages of the writing process through lecture, guided discussion, and group and individual practice. This class will provide direct writing instruction in the stages of the writing process. As a class, students will work through each stage of the writing process in order to understand that writing is a recursive, iterative process that must be internalized as they practice effective writing practices. As part of this process, students will submit a piece of writing using a genre and topic of their choice that serves a specific purpose and addresses a particular audience.
