US Grade 8

This course is an 8th grade English course. In this course you will find lessons on:  Literary Elements and Devices, Reading and Writing Informational Texts, Reading and Writing Persuasive Texts, and Reading and Writing Poetry just to name a few.  These lessons are self-guided and self-paced. They are taught by using reading material as well as, videos to explain different concepts and ideas. The learner is able to message the teacher if they happen to have any questions concerning the lessons. After every topic the student will have a short quiz to take the quiz can be taken as many times as they want. The student is also given a practice exam after every lesson. This practice exam can also be retaken as well.

The learning goal of this course is to become familiar with the content in the 8th Grade Language Arts course.

Lesson 1:

Literary Elements and Devices Chapter 9

 This lesson consists of 10 lessons and a chapter exam. The lessons are covered using reading material along with videos and a quiz at the end of each lesson. At the end of chapter/lesson you will have a practice exam to review what you learned.

Lesson 2:

Reading and Writing Informational Texts Chapter 10

 This lesson consists of 8 lessons and a chapter exam. The lessons are covered using reading material along with videos and a quiz at the end of each lesson. At the end of chapter/lesson you will have a practice exam to review what you learned.

Lesson 3:

Reading and Writing Persuasive Texts Chapter 11

 This lesson consists of 6 lessons and a chapter exam. The lessons are covered using reading material along with videos and a quiz at the end of each lesson. At the end of chapter/lesson you will have a practice exam to review what you learned.

Lesson 4:

Reading and Writing Poetry Chapter 12

 This lesson consists of 8 lessons and a chapter exam. The lessons are covered using reading material along with videos and a quiz at the end of each lesson. At the end of chapter/lesson you will have a practice exam to review what you learned.

I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught grades K-College level. I taught grades K-6 every subject including Bible and Art and grades 6-College English Language Arts. I've been an online tutor for Social Studies, Writing, ELA, and Science grades 6- College level. I was an Intervention Specialist for grades K-2, 1-5 ESOL and 6-8. I taught ESOL for several years as well. I have been on countless committees such as: Writing Rubric, Social Studies, Writing, Discipline Committee, National Junior Honor Society Advisor, Admissions Chair. I have a master's degree in education along with 80 credits above my master's degree. I come with extensive experience in education and look forward to being your child's teacher. I taught Bible for a group of students for my oldest son's class for about 8 years on a voluntary basis on the weekends.
