Class Experience

US Grade 8
This class is part of a series of classes meant to provide opportunities for students to review and practice math concepts taught through Eureka Math, Grade 8, Module 4. This class does not use problems from the textbook, and does not teach the concepts using the same methodologies as the textbook. Learners are able to bring problems from their textbook for help and clarification, but they must already have the materials as materials and/or access to the Eureka curriculum will not be provided in this class. Instead, this class follows the same sequence of concepts as the textbook in order to align supplemental learning. Below is a list of concepts that we will be covering during this course.

Days 1 and 2: Topic A--Writing Variable Expressions and Equations, Identifying Terms and Coefficients, Possible Solutions to Equations
Days 3 and 4: Topic A--Solving Multi-Step Equations with Whole Numbers and Fractions, and Solving Equations with Like Terms
Days 5 and 6: Topic A--Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides with Whole Numbers and Fractions, and Solving Equations Review
Days 7 and 8: Topic B--Solving Proportions, Proportional Relationships on a Graph and Constant Rate of Change
Days 9 and 10: Topic C--Finding the Constant of Proportionality, and Finding the Slope of a Line
Days 11 and 12: Topic C--Slope Intercept Form, and Writing Linear Equations
Days 13 and 14: Topic C--Evaluating Linear Functions, and Function Tables
Days 15 and 16: Topic D--Solutions to Systems of Equations, Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing and Substitution
Days 17 and 18: Topics D and E--Solving Systems of Equations by Elimination, and Pythagorean Theorem

Please note that this is a multi-day class with a set schedule. Please review the entire schedule before enrolling, as missed classes will not be rescheduled or refunded. Thank you!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I have been teaching in the public school setting for the past fifteen years, and tutoring privately for the past six years. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade in math, reading, writing mechanics, American History, and beginning Spanish. I especially enjoy working with students in small groups or individually, and have recently developed skills as an online educator due to school closures. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy watching television and movies, and traveling with my family.
