Students will learn how to manage their time on the SAT, as well as specific strategies for each section. The content covered by the SAT is extensive, so this course will cover the most popular topics, concepts, and question styles for each section. We will do several practice tests, so your student can learn how their brain will react to test pressure and discuss ways to manage anxiety throughout the process.
I have 8 years of tutoring and teaching experience, focused specifically in SAT/ACT preparation. I work to improve student's capability and confidence so they can work calmly throughout the testing process and I enjoy seeing students find new ways to succeed.
Homework will be assigned each week in the form of practice tests - either a single section or full length based on the class. I will require students to do independent vocabulary flashcard practice on Quizlet, and read for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. If your student struggles to enjoy reading, I will provide a list of book recommendations to engage them.
TI-84 Calculator (or equivalent) recommended Able to open and read PDFs Pencil and Paper
Students will be graded on each homework assignment, and I hold weekly office hours to answer student questions and concerns.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using practice questions and tests provided by the College Board, as well as a free Quizlet account for vocabulary flashcards. We will also use a Google Classroom resource library.
