Class Experience

We will review fraction skills needed upon entering 7th grade. Review will include: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions. I will review each skill and then students will be able to ask questions and practice. I will use a tablet and share my screen with students. Students will write each problem on paper or their white board. If needed I can give access to a shared screen for students to share their work. My teaching style is to constantly check for understanding and base my teaching decisions on what my students need.

Learning Goals

Students will increase understanding of basic fraction skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by reviewing and practicing. We will practice with problem sets for each skill.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught 7th and 8th grade math, including Algebra 1 for 17 years. Additionally, I have tutored students from grades 4 through 9th grade for 10 plus years. My students have included varying levels and needs. I am very familiar with adapting to learning styles in order to have my students succeed. I am very familiar with my technical platforms that will support student learning and encourage my students to supplement with technology in order to increase understanding.
A typical lesson will include an entrance ticket in order to establish a baseline for understanding. I will introduce the topic and encourage discussion as we progress through problems together. Finally, students will have an opportunity to practice independently. The class will end with an activity to check for understanding before moving on.
