Class Experience

This 4 week class is designed from the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens." This is not a required reading, though it is a great book and it would be great if your student reads it either before or after this class. There will be many realistic examples and discussion in this class. This class is focused on the preteen ages. The schedule (and key discussion areas) goes as follows:

Week 1:
Habit 1- Be Proactive (Thinking before you act)
Habit 2- Begin With the End in Mind (Writing SMART Goals; Writing mission statements)

Week 2:
Habit 3- Put First Things First (Time Quadrant Activity; Using time wisely)
Habit 4- Think Win-Win (Examples and discussion)

Week 3:
Habit 5- Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood (How to communicate with parents-- and others)
Habit 6- Synergize (Celebrate differences)

Week 4:
Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw (Take a time-out)
Keep Hope Alive

Parental Guidance
Though I work very hard to make it age appropriate, there are subjects such as depression and relationships that will be briefly discussed that could be considered "sensitive" material.
Supply List
Most classes will need paper and a pen or pencil for different activities. It could also be beneficial to take notes during class if student desires.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
