Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
**I teach classes with my baby in the room or by wearing baby. Baby may be seen or heard at times during class.**

Learners will be learning the names and locations of the 7 continents and 5 oceans. The songs and using the map and globe will help us learn where everything is on our planet, Earth. We will discuss each continent/ocean and the location of it to help us remember where they are. When working on the booklet, we will do it as a class and with teacher guidance.

Each day, we will listen to the Seven Continents Song and/or the Five Oceans Song.

Day 1: Everyone will introduce themselves and begin cutting out and putting the booklets together. (Learners may need help stapling the booklet.) On this day, we will learn that our planet is called Earth. We will also discuss that Earth is round like our globe, but it lays flat on maps.

Day 2: We will look at the globe and map to introduce and identify the continents. On this day, we will familiarize ourselves with the names of the continents. We will work on pages 1-4 in the booklet.

Day 3: Catch up if needed. We will focus on North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia using our map and globe to discuss where they are and how we can remember where they are. We will work on pages 5-9 in the booklet.

Day 4: We will focus on Australia and Antarctica using our map and globe to discuss where they are and how we can remember their locations. We will work on pages 10-11 in the booklet. We will review all of our continents and have an informal assessment to see if they know where the continents are on the map. We will introduce the oceans using the Five Oceans Song.

Day 5: We will open with the Five Oceans Song and review the names of the oceans. We will look at the globe and map to identify the oceans and how to remember their locations. We will work on pages 12-13 in the booklet. We will review the oceans and have an informal assessment to see if they know where the oceans are.

Hello! Welcome to my learning page! I am so glad you found it and are here!

My name is Mrs. Makenna! I love all things math, phonics, reading and sensory play. I even like some science and geography. I taught in the classroom before I started moving around the country with my husband’s job. We love to travel and explore new places. I have been all over the United States and Central America.

My passion is working with children, and I have missed being in the classroom. However, online teaching has been just as fun! I have had the pleasure of working with some learners for several years and have seen so much growth in them. I can’t wait to watch your learner(s) grow, too.

I believe every learner is unique and can learn at their own pace. Learning is so much better when we are having fun in the process. Let’s have some fun together! See you in the classroom soon!
