US Grade 6
This is Semester 1 of 6th grade Math. In this class, the students will be learning the standards covered in 6th-grade Math. In semester 1 this class will cover place value of decimals, decimal division, order of operations, variables, and expressions, percents, adding and subtracting equations, and fractions. This is a small group 6th grade Math class that will meet twice a week for 11 weeks. Students should have completed 5th-grade Math or have tested on the 6th-grade level. Students in this class should know their basic multiplication and division facts. The class will begin each day with a review of the multiplication facts and then a quick Kahoot game. Next, we will check any homework that was assigned the previous day. Lessons will be taught using the Zoom whiteboard and prepared slides. During the lessons I will demonstrate the standard on the whiteboard using the I do, we do, you do strategy. The students will be expected to copy all notes from the whiteboard in order for them to be able to participate in class discussions and solving of any problems. The students will be given many opportunities to show understanding of the standard by answering questions and solving problems on the whiteboard. Each day there will be a review of what was learned the previous day. This is to ensure that the students are understanding the standard. Any skill that the students are struggling with during class will be retaught the next class period. ***At the end of class, the students will participate in a review using Kahoot games. This is a fun way for the students to show what they have learned. *** **Each learner will be provided weekly printable additional practice and links to recorded homework review videos** The following lessons will be taught during Semester 1.
