This semester long course is designed to instruct learners in all concepts listed in the national 6th grade math curriculum as well as provide remediation and acceleration to fit learner needs.
Class experience
US Grade 6
Each week learners will receive instruction in national math standards for 6th grade: Week of August 21st - Compute multi-digit multiplication problems Week of August 28th-Compute multi-digit divisor division problems Week of September 4th- find common factors and multiples Week of September 11th-Understand ratios and proportions Content will be presented in a problem-solution format with learners engaging in discussion to determine best solutions and the methods used to accomplish the...
Learners will learn ratios and proportions, rational and irrational numbers and how to use multi-digit numbers to multiply and divide to solve complex word problems. Learners will be given real-world scenarios to practice using concepts learned.
Instructor has 15 years of classroom teaching experience with 8 years online teaching. Instructor holds a certification in middle grades math instructor and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction.
Homework Offered
Homework will be given at the end of each session. Homework should be completed within a 40-minute time period. Learners will submit assignments in a timely manner to allow for feedback. Performance on homework will provide instructor with a guide for future lessons.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners will be given an assessment every two weeks to ensure learning is being attained. A letter grade will be communicated with parents to indicate student's level of concept mastery. Feedback via suggestions will be offered to help promote achievement growth.Grades Offered
