****All spots reserved for Quarter3 students at this time. This is part four of a year long class!! Quarter 4 focuses on geometry and data analysis! This is a complete 6th grade math curriculum that follows the common core standards. Following each live meeting I will send homework assignments for students to complete the following day. I will also provide timely feedback about student homework each week! At the end of each quarter I will provide an open note test for students to complete. I will use discussion, the interactive white board, the chat box, and games to engage the learners in math talk and discussion throughout this year! Week 1: Nets of 3D figures, building polyhedrons! Week 2: Use nets to find the surface area of polyhedrons Week 3: Volume of rectangular prisms, including fractional edge lengths Week 4: What is a statistical question? Find measures of center (mean, median, and mode) from dot plots. Week 5: Finding measures of differentiation (range and mean absolute deviation) from stem and leaf plots. Week 6: Reading and creating box plots, interquartile range Week 7: Histograms, discussing the overall shape of data. Week 8: Quarter 4 review, catch up, extensions! You finished 6th grade math!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi!! I’m Mrs. Drye. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Math Education from UNC-Charlotte. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Teacher of the Year when I taught 6th grade math! As a teacher I focus on building relationships with students so that I can help them to build their math confidence. I focus on differentiating learning for each of my students. I can extend learning for some learners while helping others to review a topic that’s tough for them. I encourage students to share their math thinking and guide them in learning new strategies. I also keep class fun and exciting with games, discussion, and songs! I taught 5th and 6th grade for 8 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool my three girls. My daughters are now 10, 8, and almost 6! I enjoy exploring new places, teaching, and exercising!
