Class Experience

This 8-week course will cover the second half of the 6th Grade Math Common Core Standards. Topics will include the following:

Unit 5: Expressions
January 4-8: Algebraic Expressions
January 11-15: Writing Expressions
January 18-22: Properties of Addition and Multiplication
January 25-29: Review & Test

Unit 6: Equations
February 1-5: Writing Equations in One Variable
February 8-12: Solving Equations
February 15-19: Writing Equations in Two Variables
February 22-26: Review and Test

Part 3 of 4 covers the first half of the sixth grade math common core standards and curriculum.

Students who are already taking 6th grade math can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll for a complete 6th grade math curriculum.

The weekly schedule will include the following:
Session 1: Live lesson with exposure and instruction of the concept. Students will be given an assignment to complete by Thursday.
Weekly homework: Students will work on their assignment on their own. They can message me for additional assistance during this time.
Session 2: Live lesson where students will turn in their assignment. Additional practice of the concept will be provided.

These math lessons will integrate real world and engaging topics. Students will be provided with several different options for homework every week which include visual, real world and concrete assignments. Students will also be provided with a homework packet at the beginning of each unit. They can print this off or complete it digitally.

Students should be prepared to enter 6th grade math. However, due to the interruption of learning this past year, I will take time to review 5th grade concepts throughout the course.

Bailey Nelson
Welcome to Seed and Stem Learning Center by Bailey Nelson and Kenneth Kirk!

As a prior public school teacher, Bailey experienced the positive difference that scientific inquiry can have on students. Kenneth, who received his Bachelor's of Business Degree in Economics, found a passion in educating young students the improtance of financial literacy and business education. Bailey and Ken used this inspiration to create a program that allows students to connect across the globe through quality and inclusive education.

Although students take classes virtually, they will be inspired through hands-on and real-world applications and problems. Through our engaging courses, students will develop (or enhance) their love of all subjects by connecting to real-life applications and problems.

Teachers and tutors are all vetted through a rigorous process that focuses on scientific inquiry, problem-based learning, and hands-on pedagogy. Teachers come from a variety of backgrounds including education, economics, engineering, and computer science.
