Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is the first quarter of a total of four quarters. This is full year course divided into 4 quarters. In the first quarter there are two units we will cover.

Your learner will engage in Unit 1 - Whole Numbers and Operations and Unit 2 - Integers.
In unit 1 students will learn whole numbers, place value, rounding and comparing numbers. In unit 2, they will be introduced to integers (positive and negative numbers), the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. They will also learn about graphing coordinates on a coordinate plane.

They will watch guided lessons with clear explanations, guided practice problems, and several examples to build understanding of concepts and procedures. The lessons will begin with an introduction and lesson objectives. Afterward, they will be introduce to the topics and guided through examples and practice problems.

During the lessons, students will take notes (I have prewritten for them to copy). The note-taking part is primarily focused on building study skills needed to prepare students for middle and high school as well as the homework, quizzes and tests in this course. In the videos, there will be times when my notes are displayed and student may pause the video to copy. If the student struggles with copying notes or has in problem with note-taking or handwriting you can request a pdf of my handwritten notes.

After the student has completed the guided lesson video, they will complete homework. Each lesson is accompanied with homework/practice of the video lesson. They may complete homework along with the video or after. They will receive a pdf to print or you write directly on the pdf with an iPad or tablet. You can submit screenshots, scans, or pdf files to turn assignments.

Students will complete quizzes every few lessons to ensure they are mastering concepts before the end of the unit final exam. All homework, quizzes, and unit exams will be graded and sent with feedback with 48 hours after submission.

I will be available throughout the course to help with homework, answer questions, or provided extra practice challenges to learners who are gifted, and support and strategies for neuro-divergent learners. All contact will with the teacher will made through the Outschool platform. Responses and request will be answered within 12 - 48 hours.

****There will be opportunities for homework help sessions on topics only in the course for an extra fee per session.

Access to content: Every week you gain access to 2 guided video lessons and their corresponding homework. I recommend that student complete 2 lessons per week to stay on track as content builds throughout the unit and course.

Example of student schedule:

Monday - Watch guide lesson 1 (take notes)
Tuesday - Review lesson notes and complete lesson 1 homework
Wednesday - Watch guided lesson 2 (take notes)
Thursday - Review lesson notes and complete lesson 2 homework.
Friday - Quizzes or Assessments if they are due, otherwise take this day off or review videos
-- This is an example and you can do your schedule as you see fit!--

Two lessons each week is recommended so the learner has time to grasp concepts and to not become overwhelmed by learning too much, too fast.

I will be here for as much as possible for your student throughout the course!

Learning Goals
