6th Grade Literacy Boost

What will be taught?
This 1:1 session will focus on phonics, spelling, reading fluency, and comprehension. We will cover advanced decoding strategies, morphology (prefixes, suffixes, and roots), and building confidence in reading print.

How is your class structured?
Each session is 50 minutes and is tailored to the student's pace. We will begin with a warm-up activity (like a brief review of previous material), followed by a focused lesson on phonics, morphology, or reading comprehension, and finish with fluency practice and interactive activities.

How will you teach?
I will teach using a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities. Visual aids, word maps, and flashcards will be used to reinforce spelling and decoding strategies. We will also practice reading aloud and discussing texts.

What’s your teaching style?
My teaching style is student-centered and supportive, adapting lessons to the learner’s needs. I focus on active participation, clear explanations, and building confidence through practice and positive feedback.

How much will learners get to interact with you?
Students will interact with me through guided reading, spelling drills, vocabulary discussions, and fluency practice. I use a mix of games, visual aids, slides, and hands-on activities to keep the student engaged and provide opportunities for them to apply what they’ve learned.
