Description

Class Experience

Students will be able to accurately multiply two fractions.
Students will be able to effectively solve word problems involving the multiplication and division of fractions.
Students will recognize a fraction to be a division problem.
Students will be able to accurately divide two fractions.
Students will be able to convert between different standard measurement units. 
Students will be able to solve word problems relating to volume. 

Students will learn personal responsibility by coming to class prepared each day.
Students will learn to raise their hand and take turns speaking.
Students will learn to participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners.
Our teachers for this class have experience in brick and mortar k-12 settings as well as online elementary education. 
The last ten minutes of each class will be independent work time where students will begin their homework under the teacher's supervision. If they are not able to finish in class, they should have no more than 15 minutes of additional work time out of class.
Students will need Singapore Dimensions 5a textbook, a spiral notebook dedicated to this class, and a 10 sided dice. Additionally, students will be required to print out tests at the end of a chapter to complete in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed informally on an ongoing basis. At the end of each chapter, a formal test will be given to monitor student progress. A formal letter grade can be provided upon request at the beginning of the course.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will utilize Singapore Math 5A curriculum.
