Class Experience

US Grade 5
Intermediate Level
Our comprehensive science curriculum aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). It is designed to provide an engaging, in-depth exploration of four major areas: Earth, Ecosystems, Matter, and Astronomy.

⭐ Class Highlights ⭐
- NGSS-Aligned Curriculum: Our lessons adhere to the NGSS, ensuring students receive a modern and cohesive science education that builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Spiral Learning Approach: We rotate through our four main topics in a spiral fashion, revisiting each area throughout the year. This method reinforces learning, helping students build and retain knowledge more effectively.
- Interactive and Hands-On: Each session includes interactive activities, discussions, and hands-on experiments to make learning fun and practical.

⭐ Main Areas of Study ⭐
We will cover these four topics throughout the school year:
🌎 Earth & Human Activities: Dive into Earth's different spheres (hydrosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, biosphere) and explore their interactions and how human activities impact these systems.
🐶 Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics: Discover what makes something alive, how organisms obtain and use energy, the dynamics of ecosystems, and the importance of decomposers and matter cycling.
⚗️ Matter & Interactions: Learn about the nature of matter, its different states, physical and chemical changes, and how we can identify substances based on their properties.
💫 Astronomy: Explore the wonders of space, the solar system, the movements of Earth, the moon, stars, and the effects of gravity on different planets.

⭐ Class Experience ⭐
Our structured curriculum follows the renowned 5E approach — a proven method that guides students through five distinct phases of learning: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate.
1. Engage: Igniting Curiosity
In the Engage phase, we captivate students' attention and spark their curiosity with thought-provoking questions, captivating stories, and fascinating demonstrations.
2. Explore: Hands-On Exploration
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into hands-on exploration! In the Explore phase, students become active participants in their learning as they conduct experiments, make observations, and collect data. Guided by our experienced instructors, students investigate scientific phenomena and develop critical thinking skills.
3. Explain: Understanding Concepts
In the Explain phase, we demystify complex concepts and provide clear explanations to deepen students' understanding. Through dynamic presentations, interactive demonstrations, and insightful discussions, we illuminate key principles and help students make connections between theory and practice.
4. Elaborate: Applying Knowledge
Knowledge is power, but application is key! In the Elaborate phase, students apply their newfound knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios, projects, and challenges. Whether designing experiments, solving problems, or collaborating on group projects, students gain confidence and competence as they put theory into practice.
5. Evaluate: Assessing Understanding
Assessment is essential for growth and improvement. In the evaluation phase, we assess students' understanding and skills using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies. Through quizzes, projects, presentations, and discussions, we provide valuable feedback and celebrate students' progress and achievements.
