The 5th Grade NGSS Science Standards will be covered in this ongoing course in a hands-on and engaging way! We will learn about science as we explore the natural world around us driven by questioning and inquiry learning! Learners will be able to interact with each other to make their learning more meaningful. We will meet onece a week for a lesson that will include a diverse presentation of instruction. This may include direct instruction, nearpod, videos, hands-on activities, collaboration with peers and the best part, EXPERIMENTS!! Each week we will cover a new topic, which will allow for learners to join at any time. I will provide additional learning opportunities through optional online PHET simulations and practice of concepts learned each week. The homework may include reading in the content area, writing in the content area, hands-on activities and practice handouts. Students have the option of completing some or all of the work. Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I am a certified teacher and I've been teaching middle school comprehensive science since 2014 and I taught 5th-grade science many years prior to moving to middle school. I currently help design activities that support the 7th & 8th-grade curriculum for all of the science teachers and serve as a math and science instructional coach to K-5 elementary teachers. I will be incorporating reading and writing in this science course as well. I have a master's degree in reading and writing, and I am a firm believer in reading and writing in the content area.
