Class Experience
Hello👋and thank you for your interest in this Minecraft themed 5th grade math review class! I am so happy you are here. Does your learner need to refine their math skills from last school year? Students will be reviewing the 5th grade Common Core math standards.
I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Management. I have also been a licensed teacher for the last 10 years, and worked in a classroom as a math teacher during that time. I have specific experience working with students to develop their math skills. I often worked with students who had an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) to improve their math skills. I love making learning fun!
Students will need the following materials in class: 1. Paper and Pencil or white board and marker 2. *Optional second device to play Kahoot/Gimkit game (ex. tablet, iPad, phone) * If your learner does not have a second device, please be sure to watch the video tutorial on how to split your screen *before* class begins so that your learner will be prepared for class and can participate in the Kahoot game. https://youtu.be/W819LIH7EZM
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
During this class we will be using two platforms, Kahoot and Gimkit, to interact with math topics and fellow students. Students do NOT need an account to participate. Students will be provided with an access code to be entered into the website, by navigating to www.kahoot.it or Gimkit.com/join. Students will be provided guidance during class, but it is recommended that you either: a.) have a second device available, or b.) are able to split your screen and have two internet windows side by side. Please view this video if you need to split your screen: https://youtu.be/XBXeQ7w_ILs Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. :)
