5th Grade Math Unit 1 Place Value & Powers of Ten

This class is part of a series of classes meant to provide opportunities for students to review and practice math concepts taught in fifth grade. This class is the first of the series, and focuses on number sense. Below is a list of concepts that we will be covering during this course, in quantities up to the hundred thousands place.

Day 1: Whole Number and Decimal Place Value
Day 2: Comparing Whole Numbers and Decimals
Day 3: Converting Between Expanded Form, Written Form, and Standard Form with Whole Numbers
Day 4: Converting Between Expanded Form, Written Form, and Standard Form with Decimal Numbers
Day 5: Rounding Whole Numbers and Decimals
Day 6: Roman Numerals (Basic)
Day 7: Powers of Ten
Day 8: Scientific Notation

After each live class meeting, an optional practice activity covering the previous lessons' topics will be send in order to provide more opportunities for independent practice.
