Additionally, students extend their understanding of decimal fractions to the thousandths place and more sophisticated patterns of our base ten system. Daily work includes a video lesson from the teacher to include a warm-up, fluency practice and a daily word problem. Students are then directed to Zearn where they will compete additional practice. Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome to my profile! I'm Katelyn a former 5th grade teacher turned stay at home mom. I love teaching and I knew that I wanted to continue while also being home with my children. Enter Outschool! I love to teach math, book clubs, writing, yoga and baking. I have my bachelors from the University of South Dakota in K-8 elementary education with an emphasis in reading and technology. I taught reading for a year to 6-8th graders and I taught all subjects in a self-contained 5th grade classroom for 5 years. I also hold a certification in yoga instruction.

I truly believe that all students are able to learn and that it is my job to help them achieve mastery. I believe in a respectful classroom atmosphere where we are able to lightly tease each other, laugh, and learn. Students in my experience learn best when they know that their teacher is a real person and can be personable and not robotic.

I currently have two children (one toddler and one infant). My days are wild and chaotic and I can only do on-demand classes at the time, however, I want your children to succeed and will be accessible as much as I can be. If a need arises, I am able to do one-on-one tutoring in the evenings or Saturday mornings.
