The goals of this class are based on my experience teaching 5th grade and the foundation students need to move forward.  They also correlate with the Common Core standards. The goals include:
Week 1 - Add whole numbers and decimals.
Week 2 - Subtract whole numbers and decimals.
Week 3 - Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
Week 4 - Find quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors as well as decimals in the dividend and the divisor.
Week 5 - Solve multi-step word problems using the operations.

I taught math in a 5th grade classroom for more than 15 years.  I understand what students need to move forward and know how to teach it. 

There are no live classes for this course.  Students are expected to watch the prerecorded videos and compete the assignments each week.  

Learners progress will be assessed through interactive quizzes.  Problems solved in class and virtual discussions through the collaborative boards and Flipgrid.

No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses Flipgrid and Quizlet.
