US Grade 5
In this class students will meet with other 5th grade math students to discuss math topics. The discussion will be lead by me in a structured manner. Students will start each class by introducing themselves and answering a math related question of the day such as "What is your favorite type of number?" We will then cover 5 math concepts at random and a couple of example problems of each. This class is not meant to teach a math concept in detail. It is meant as a review in which misconception can be addressed. We will end class with a fun math fact. Students will always be given the opportunity to participate in answering questions giving me a chance to check for understanding.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I am Becky. I am a former math teacher with an interdisciplinary degree in math 4-8th. I love teaching math. I taught in a public school for three years and have been a private tutor for 7 years. I tutor students of various ages in math and reading. I have tutored grade levels from 3rd to 10th both in a private and group setting. For two summers I taught a group of advanced students in a TEX-Prep course in year 2 of their 5 year course. Tutoring Math has given me a great joy in life with seeing students that once struggle with math, now excel in it. I look forward to seeing your child in my classroom.
