Welcome to 4th Quarter of 5th Grade Math! In this 8 week class, we will continue to learn 5th grade math skills. We will review skills taught in 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter and learn new 4th quarter skills. The class will go at the pace of the students. If we need to spend extra time on a skill we will and if they catch on to a skill quickly, we will move on. Week 1: Warm up with division fluency and long division. Probability and statistics- mode, mean, median, and range. Interpret graphs to find mean, median, range and mode. Week 2: Warm up with multiplying and dividing fractions. Data and graphs. Interpreting and making graphs. Week 3: Warm up with exponents. Adding decimals, subtracting decimals, and multiply and dividing decimals. Week 4: Warm up with order of operations. Converting fractions to decimals and Dividing decimals. Week 5: Warm up with 3 digit times 2 digit multiplication. Converting fractions to decimals and Dividing decimals. Week6: Warm up with 2D shape characteristics. Volume (unit cubes). We will work on finding the volume of irregular figures and rectangular prisms. Week 7: Review adding decimals, subtracting decimals, and multiply and dividing decimals. Week 8: Review Week: We will skill from quarters 1-4.
