Welcome to 3rd Quarter of 5th Grade Math! 

In this 8 week class, we will continue to learn 5th grade math skills. We will review skills taught in 1st and 2nd quarter and learn new 3rd quarter skills.

Week 1: 
Warm up with Exponents. Fractions and mixed numbers- Review fractions, equivalent fractions, fraction word problems. Convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers. Finding the least common denominator. Comparing fractions, Numerical expressions.

Week 2:
Warm up with multiplication. Work on estimating products, distributive property, and review 2 digit times 2 digit multiplication and multiplication word problems.

Week 3:
Warm up with multiplication and equivalent fractions
Fractions- multiplying fractions, dividing fractions

Week 4:
Warm up with division fluency 
long division and long division with decimals.

Week 5:
Warm up with long division
Mixed operations- order of operations (PEMDAS)

Week6:
Warm up with addition and subtraction and 2D shape characteristics. 
Finding the area and perimeter of triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids.
Probability and statistics- mode, mean, median, and range

Week 7: Modeling decimals, adding decimals, subtracting decimals, and multiply and dividing decimals


Week 8:
Review Week

Supply List
Students will need a paper and pencil or white board and marker for each class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
