US Grade 5
Welcome to 5th Grade Math! In this 8 week class, we will learn skills taught in 1st quarter of 5th grade math. Students will learn through lecture and practice. Students are able to show their work on the screen or by using paper and pencil or a white board and marker. Students will be encouraged to explain how they got their answers and "teach" the steps used to solve problems.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to do 2 digit times 2 digit multiplication.
Students will learn how to do long division.

over 8 WeeksLesson 1:
Place Value, Multiplication and Division Fluency
Warm up with place value review (digits, value of digits, expanded and standard form). Learn about the relationship between place values ( _ is 10 times smaller than 600). Comparing numbers to the 10,000's place. Finish up with multiplication and division fluency.

Addition and Subtraction Word Problems, Multiplication and Division Fluency
Warm up with relationship between place value. Addition and Subtraction fluency and word problems. Finish with multiplication and division fluency.

Lesson 3:
Addition, Subtraction Word Problems, Rounding
Warm up with addition and subtraction word problems. Find missing digits in an equations to get the sum or difference ( __-__=473 use digits 3,7,9,3). Rounding numbers to the tens, hundreds, and thousands place.

Lesson 4:
Roman Numerals, Multiplication Word Problems, Prime and Composite Numbers
Warm up with Roman Numerals. Multiplication word problems and finding factors of numbers. Learn about prime and composite numbers.
