** Dazzling Minds Academy always teaches to 1 student, if you DO NOT see students enrolled that means your child will be the only one in class. Our teachers do not mind, but I know sometimes students want to be with other students in the class. Please reach out if you have any questions** Welcome to 5th Grade Math where students will learn and review their objectives in a fun and engaging way by using Nearpod! This class is perfect for students who are entering 5th grade or want a review on the 5th grade math objectives Every lesson will be taught as if it was new to the student to ensure that they understand the material. The lesson will be fun and engaging as they will get to play fun games to reinforce the lesson, do activities like drag and drop activities and many more activities that can be found within Nearpod Students will be able to participate in the class by various formats. They can come off mute and ask questions, they can show their work on the Nearpod, or they can ask questions on the chatbox. We love to ensure students are understanding the material, therefore students will be asked questions throughout the lesson. They can either answer verbally or in the chat box. **Blooket is a fun and interactive platform that students love because it is extremely hands on. Students will NOT need a paid account to access it. They will receive a link prior to class and at the beginning of the class to simply click on it and login** Class layout: ≈15 minutes: Introduction to lesson ≈15 minutes: Nearpod lesson ≈15 minutes: Blooket Game for review SUMMER TOPICS: WEEK OF: 6/5/2023: Rounding Numbers Round to the nearest 100 Round to the nearest 1000 6/12/23: Number Sense Scientific Notation Even or Odd 6/19/23: Multiplication Multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers Multiply 2-digit numbers by 3-digit numbers 6/26/23: Division Divide 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers Divide 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers 7/3/23: Exponents Understanding exponents Evaluate exponents 7/10/23: Number theory Prime and composite numbers Prime factorization 7/17/23: Number theory Least common multiple Greatest common factor 7/3/23: Add and subtract decimals Add decimal numbers Subtract decimal numbers 7/10/23: Fractions Adding Fractions with like denominators Subtracting Fractions with like denominators 7/17/23: Fractions Multiplying Fractions with like denominators Dividing Fractions with like denominators 7/24/23: Fractions Adding Fractions with unlike denominators Subtracting Fractions with unlike denominators 7/31/23: Fractions Multiplying Fractions with unlike denominators Dividing Fractions with unlike denominators 8/7/23: Coordinate plane Objects on a coordinate plane Coordinate planes as maps 8/14/23: Variable expressions One-step equation: add & subtract One-step equation: multiply & divide 8/21/23: Probability and statistics Find the mean Find the median 8/28/23:Probability and statistics Find the mode Find the range ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WEEK OF: August 29, 2022- Expanded form of a number Scientific Notation September 5, 2022- Rounding to the nearest 10 Rounding to the nearest 100 September 12, 2022- Mean Median September 19, 2022- Mode Range September 26, 2022 Multiply with 1 Digit Division with 1 digit October 3, 2022 Even or odd Solve equations with whole numbers October 10, 2022 Add Fractions with unlike denominators Subtract Fractions with unlike denominators October 17, 2022 Add up to 3 digits Subtract up to 3 digits October 24, 2022 Add up to 4 digits Subtract up to 4 digits October 31, 2022 Add up to 5 digits Subtract up to 5 digits November 7, 2022 Multiplying Fractions with Unlike denominators Dividing Fractions with Unlike Denominators November 14, 2022 PEMDAS Multiplying with Exponents November 21, 2022: THANKSGIVING WEEK (NO CLASSES/NO CHARGE) November 28, 2022: Prime Factorization Find a value using two-variable equations December 5, 2022: Add and subtract whole numbers up to billions Add and subtract whole numbers: word problems December 12, 2022: Multiply by 1-digit numbers Multiply by 1-digit numbers: word problems DECEMBER 19-DECEMBER 30, 2022: WINTER BREAK (NO CLASSES/NO CHARGE) JANUARY 2, 2023: Estimate products Lattice multiplication JANUARY 9, 2023: Multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers Multiply 2-digit numbers by 3-digit numbers JANUARY 16, 2023: Multiply three or more numbers up to 2 digits each Inequalities with multiplication JANUARY 23, 2023: Multiplication facts to 12 Division facts to 12 JANUARY 30, 2023: Evaluate powers of ten Prime factorization FEBRUARY 6, 2023: Prime factorization with exponents Prime and composite numbers FEBRUARY 13, 2023: Least common multiple Greatest common factor FEBRUARY 20, 2023: Inequalities with decimal addition and subtraction Add and subtract decimals: word problems FEBRUARY 27, 2023: Fractions review MARCH 6, 2023: MARCH 13, 2023: SPRING BREAK (NO CLASSES/NO CHARGE) MARCH 20,2023: Multi-step word problems Multi-step word problems involving remainders MARCH 27, 2023: Add and subtract money: word problems Add and subtract money: multi-step word problems APRIL 3, 2023: Objects on a coordinate plane Graph points on a coordinate plane APRIL 10, 2023: (NO CLASSES ON APRIL 10) Coordinate planes as maps Follow directions on a coordinate plane APRIL 17, 2023: Evaluate variable expressions Solve equations with whole numbers APRIL 24, 2023: Solve equations with decimals Find a value using two-variable equations MAY 1, 2023: Interpret a table Interpret line plots MAY 8, 2023: Interpret frequency charts: multi-step problems Interpret stem-and-leaf plots MAY 15, 2023: Mean Median MAY 22, 2023: Mode Range
