Class Experience

US Grade 5
This course is part 1 of my 5th Grade English Language Arts SECOND Semester class, which has been split into three parts for convenience. Each part makes up the whole Semester, but need not be taken in order, you also have the option to also only enrol for the part your learner requires. This class will meet once a week for 4 weeks with the following learning aims:

Week 1 - Improve spelling, grammar and vocabulary through literacy based games : nine letter word puzzles, find the word, Ten Strikes and You're Out.

Week 2 - Poetry analysis - The Tyger by William Blake, this class will cover the conventions and features of poetry and figurative language.

Week 3 - Discursive writing - learning how to write a balanced argument, how to consider the audience, write a closing statement and phrases to use when using discursive discussions.

Week 4 - Inference and understanding - We will read an extract from Black Beauty and practice drawing inferences from the text, which encourages learners to carefully think on and examine what they have read and make conclusions.
