Class Experience

This class will be taught using a blended teaching style of lecture and visual learning (videos and presentations). I will pause periodically to assess student understanding or to initiate short student discussions. I will call on individual students to answer questions or offer comments to hold students' attention. The class structure will include open engagement of class discussions, rotation between visual lessons, virtual field trips, games, and individual projects throughout the...

Students will learn about five Earth Science subjects and participate in an escape the room activity to use their critical thinking and communication skills; hone their technology skills and work to achieve a goal of escaping a room by answering review questions. The student will learn about Earth Science topics and be able to recall relevant details when prompted.

No sensitive topic will be discussed in this course.

There will be weekly homework assignments and quiz assignments. To add, learners are encouraged to review class materials. 

Students will  research about a planet of their choice and present it to the class! 

Learners will complete a quiz via escape room game at the end of the course.

Weekly handouts will be available to students prior to class. A one-page handout for the escape room will be provided prior to the class activity. A link to the escape room will be provided prior to the activity.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Learners will be assessed via written reports and letter grade.

50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

There is no violent content in this class.

This escape room works with any device that will open Google Forms. We will use google and science digital handouts for the curriculum.
